The agile train Complete Vehicle Diagnostics is responsible between other things to create guidelines, processes, methods and tools for efficient development of diagnostic system as well as guided diagnostics for aftermarket. The group Guided Diagnostics is responsible for guided fault tracing methods to Volvo Car Group’s global network of workshops.
What you'll do
As Diagnostics Engineer you will take on a role as developer for guided fault tracing methods in Volvo Cars’ aftermarket tool VIDA. Your daily work is to provide technicians with means to fault trace failures in the electrical system. You base your deliveries on information provided by the vehicle’s diagnostic system, and on data from the department responsible for developing the system you are working on. You deliver different kinds of information, including fault tracing and calibration scripts written in Python. You will also play an active role in Volvo Car Groups diagnostic community by forming our first line support in diagnostic matters. The work gives you a vast network of contacts across the entire R&D, Customer Service and Manufacturing Engineering organisations. In the years to come we will provide the aftermarket with information on all upcoming Volvo Car Groups products, with a focus on electrified, connected and autonomous functions as well as maintaining current functions and drivetrain diagnostics. Your contributions in these areas will be vital.
In the development phase, you will review diagnostic solutions and contribute to specification improvements. You will be convey the engineering perspective on the vehicle’s functionality and potential failure modes to a vocabulary that can be understood in the workshop community. You will produce diagnostic scripts and component tests as well as produce information on e.g. trouble codes, parameters and activations. You will participate in cost reduction and quality actions as well as in the IT tool development within the diagnostic information area.
Who you are
You would carry a degree in electrical, mechatronics or data engineering, or similar experience. You would be familiar with on-board electronics and specifically diagnostics as well as be fluent in English and Swedish, written and spoken. It is highly desireable to hold a driver’s license B.
You bring vehicle technical knowledge as well as the ability to fault trace and make in-car measurements based on schematics. You would also have knowledge in function block based scripting and high level programming.
You are passionate about cars and have an enthusiastic mind-set. You are a good communicator and documentation skills. You are self-driven and flexible and able to work flexible in a cross-functional and cross-organisational team. You have an open mind with a willingness to share knowledge and experience. You are engaged and inclusive when it comes to interacting with people. You are customercentric as well as having the ability to build relationships. You are also focused to deliver with attention to detail.
