Digital Talent Programme – R&D Engineer in Digital O&M
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of humankind. A challenge that has completely come to define our work at Vattenfall. And we know that the future of energy will be formed by tomorrow’s talents. New digital innovations and solutions are vital to reach our goal: fossil free living within one generation.
By applying to the Digital Talent Programme 2021 you can become 1 of 12 talents working towards that goal. Each position in the programme is unique and has its own specific responsibilities and challenges.
Next to your personal development in this position, you will also be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. A year within this programme will include both virtual and live meet-ups with your international colleagues. During the year you will work on assignments virtually together, as well as participating in four seminar weeks during which you will meet live. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to join a variety of trainings.
Your role as an R&D Engineer in Digital O&M
Your daily activities will be centered around wind related questions:
• Identify the R&D needs of our stakeholders and support the development of custom-made solutions
• Contribute to ongoing R&D projects related to operation and maintenance (O&M) for wind energy
• Advancing digital O&M which may include digital twins for our offshore and onshore wind assets or sensor based monitoring
• Testing solutions in our R&D laboratory
• Promoting an open dialogue in our R&D team
Who are you?
You want to drive digital innovations and you are a firm believer of using your skills to tackle climate change. We believe you are a brilliant networker, a critical thinker, a resourceful innovator and a keen learner who always keeps an ear to the ground to catch up on developments.
As an R&D Engineer in Digital O&M you recognize yourself in the following qualifications:
• MSc mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Some experience with digital monitoring and algorithmic is an advantage
• Curiosity and interest and first experiences with experimental works
You are our ideal talent if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or a young professional with no more than three years of working experience. You are fluent in English. Skills in other languages can be a merit. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.
Location:
You will be affiliated with the R&D Section Infrastructure Laboratory and the position is located in Älvkarleby in Sweden.

The Digital Talent Programme is a kickstart to your career within Vattenfall. Application process
We welcome your application in English, including resume and cover letter. Last day to apply is 4th of April 2021. Selection period starts in April, followed by online tests and interviews in April and May. The recruitment process will be finalized around the end of May. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the Digital Talent Programme will be 1st of September 2021.
