The Electromobility Department is responsible for developing electromobility solutions and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. This organization develop and drives the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within the Volvo Group. Electromobility is a growing organization in place to shape the future!
The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.


We now recruiting a Director for Battery Management System
In this position, you will be part of the ESS section Management team, an organization dedicated to technology as well as empowering and developing our employees. We always use customer satisfaction as the ultimate performance measurement.

Responsibilities / Main tasks
As Director for the BMS department you will be responsible for the functional architecture, the function development, controls and hardware of our BMS platform. You will lead the development and implementation of the in-house BMS platform and manage the vendor BMS platforms from our key battery suppliers. Your will lead several teams and ensure the right competence and capacity. Your teams together with our Chief Engineer are responsible to create the functional architecture of our BMS and to maintain our BMS roadmap, decide on research and AE projects and support current projects. product improvements, maintenance and quality work. You will work closely with our product groups by creating the needed functionality and balancing requirements. You are running a cross-functional network internally and work closely with our key suppliers. You have a good view of our competitors and their future plans. You are open and positive and like to lead technology and people. With us, you need to be a team player and an accessible Manager who leads and, with focus on individual development, forms a high performing team. You like to develop new ways to work.

To be able to fully enjoy this position you should be ambitious, energetic and a communicative leader with an entrepreneurial mind-set creating strong business relations. Since the area is in an early phase, it is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment. Broad experience of control system and function development in highly complex systems is required. Good knowledge of electromobility, batteries and battery health monitoring is important as well as a good knowledge of the Volvo Group products and their different applications. You should be familiar with Volvo Group or similar development processes and have good knowledge of supplier management. Knowledge of data analytics is a plus. Experience from maintenance and quality work is a merit. We see that you have a M.Sc. level or equivalent experience. A PhD in a relevant area is a merit.
You will be part of a cross-functional and international environment, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication.
