The International Save the Children Alliance Save the Children works for children everywhere.With national organizations in 27 countries, programmes in120 countries and income of almost1billion USD, Save the Children works for a world which respects and values each child, which listens to children and learns and where children have hope and opportunity. Save the Children Alliance's Child Protection Initiative (CPI) is one of seven Global Programme Initiatives within the new global strategy for 2010-2015.It is led by Save the Children Sweden, chairing the CPI Steering Group with Members from different Save the Children organizations.DIRECTOR CHILD PROTECTION INITIATIVE The Assignment period: As soon as possible until December 31, 2011.Location: To be agreed.Salary: Competitive.You will provide strategic direction and management to the International Save the Children Alliance's Child Protection Initiative (CPI).The CPI aims to expand quality programming and advocacy to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence and to position Save the Children as the leading non-governmental organization working on child protection worldwide and in Member countries.You will be responsible for mobilizing resources to contribute to doubling the total amount of funds available for child protection in Save the Children.You will provide leadership and direction to the CPI under the guidance, and with the support of the CPI Steering Group.You will manage the staff of the global CPI team and the regional CPI advisers post. You will have demonstrated success in delivering significant results at a senior level in an international organization; excellent understanding in programming, fundraising, and securing policy change; demonstrated knowledge of children's rights; and strong communication and advocacy skills.Your track record includes a successful history as a recognized leader in the child protection field and experience in both emergency and non-emergency child protection work.Prior experience, a respected reputation and presence in high-level external representation, donor relationship-building skills, interagency (including INGO and humanitarian agency) representation as well as political skills are all essential skills for this pivotal role. or to: Save the Children Sweden Helene Esenius, Human Resources Unit SE-107 88 Stockholm, Sweden Closing date for applications is Sunday 14th June 2009 with interviews scheduled within two weeks of that date.
