About the position
There is an opportunity as Director Engineering within our Powertrain & Chassis (P&C) business segment in our Technical Center in Mullsjö, Sweden. We are looking for someone with a thorough understanding of both technology and business with passion and a can-do attitude. No workday will look the same and you thrive in an environment where your work has real impact. You will lead and develop a creative and highly skilled team of around 50 engineers. The position reports directly to the VP Engineering P&C and is part of P&C Engineering and Kongsberg Automotive AB management group.
Responsibilities
In this position you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
To develop, coach and mentor an efficient and skilled team organization with a clear assignment of responsibilities and to ensure the optimum use of all Engineering resources to secure successful execution of projects
Develop and carry through the Engineering strategy and setting measurable objectives for the organisation
Drive groups to technological and DFM excellence with regard to Mechanical, Electronic, Software, and Mechantronic products and content
Enhance development in capabilities within electronics and ensuring an efficient and successful organization with regards to Functional Safety ISO 26262, Automotive-SPICE and cyber security to comply with current and future customer requirements
To ensure continuous improvement, define KPI’s and monitor / measure these to achieve targets and secure competitiveness
Establish and maintain budget and deliver results
Take part in the team reviews and make sure that necessary corrective actions are taken on the basis of sufficient analyses and expert knowledge
Focus on Intellectual Property to protect inventions and avoid infringements
Observe and make sure the Engineering department follows public law and regulations regarding health, environment, and safety
Requirements
MSc/BSc of Engineering and experience with mechatronic/embedded systems; degree in Electronic Engineering is preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience from Automotive and lean principles both for development and production; powertrain/transmission experience and market knowledge is beneficial
Experience with functional safety, ASpice and cyber security is preferred
Experience with DFM (Design For Manufacturing) to achieve lowest cost possible and optimized manufacturability in close cooperation with Operations
Experience with finance, budgets, cost control and good understanding of the main state of the art IT tools used within product development
Strategic entrepreneurial thinker with ability to make clear plans for short, medium- and long-term strategies
Excellent analytical skills and strong problem-solving skills with root cause analysis capabilities to take the right corrective actions
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be self-motivated, passionate and have a strong drive
Fluent in english and swedish, verbal and written
