The biggest technology shift in decades has just started and for the production plant in Köping this will be an exciting journey. The plant in Köping is the transmission center within the Volvo Group Trucks Operations, Powertrain Production (PTP). Our plant is the "Center of Excellence" within the area of transmission solutions and today we are 1700 employees.
We are now looking for a Director Logistics for our plant in Köping. The Director of Logistics will be a member of the Köping Plant Management team and share responsibility of its deliverables. In this position you will report to the Plant Manager in Köping. You will lead a team of area managers and first line managers within logistics that consists of approx. 280 employees in total.
Main tasks
The role and responsibility of the Director Logistics is to be an important key player in the plant management team and a member of the global logistics management team, and you will have the local responsibility for the supply chain. The job involves frequent contact with customers, suppliers, and colleagues all over the world.
You and your team are responsible for the process of planning and steering the efficient flow of materials, services and information with the aim of meeting customer demands. You also focus on daily management, strategic development, and improvements together with our local and global organizations. The logistics team is responsible for achieving the set targets mainly within safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
As a Director of Logistics, you will be a sponsor and stakeholder in our exciting journey of our technology shift. Our plant is an important part of Volvos ambition of electrifying vehicles, and we are now rebuilding our complete operation to be able to deliver the new electrified products. We expect you to take on the responsibility with great engagement and participate in the development and steering of the organization.
Other main tasks are:
* Planning the production and supply chain process
* Internal and external material control, goods reception, and dispatch of products
* Logistic development and implementation of the VPS principles (Volvo Production System)
* Develop logistic vision, strategy, and industrial plan
* Drive capital management such as cash flow and inventory
* Alignment & deployment of good practices agreed within Powertrain production team
Profile and competence requirements
You have solid experience from industrial environment and experience from leading business preferrable in combination with an academic background. The position requires strong abilities in leading change, managing interaction with stakeholders. As a person you are an inspiring leader, and your goal is to develop motivation and knowledge within your team. You build trust in the organization, delegates and involve your team. Your goal is to achieve world class performance. Communication and ability to inspire are therefore core skills. You have successful experience from networking effectively through a diverse contact base and building enduring relationships across functional and geographical areas.
A strong personal credibility and integrity are key requirements for the position. The work includes distinctive problem-solving abilities. You also show excellent leadership skills including strong customer focus, business acumen and accountability. As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
