MAX IV is looking for a Director
The Director has the overall responsibility and leadership for the management, operation and strategic planning of the MAX IV laboratory.

The Director reports to the laboratory’s board.

The Director shall provide the overall leadership and management for, and the control of, the laboratory. Max IV Director shall also ensure that MAX IV delivers according to its strategic plan. Good communication within the laboratory is essential, as well as communication with universities and other stakeholders. The Director, shall together with the management team, develop the mission, vision and goals for MAX IV and ensure that strategic and operational plans are communicated, implemented and understood throughout the laboratory. It is important to ensure proper staff management to attract and retain capable staff. The Director shall take overall responsibility for finance and business control, including investments and future funding.

Qualifications

- Internationally recognized scientific background in areas relevant to MAX IV
- Experience in scientific leadership in large, complex user infrastructures
- High level of management competence leading senior management teams in large research organizations
- Experience in managing organizational change processes
- Experience in developing and implementing strategies
- Ability to understand and work closely with the Swedish research eco system
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Information
The Director will have a permanent employment as researcher with a five-year appointment as Director. The appointment may be extended by up to five years.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
