We are seeking a dynamic leader to direct and develop a team responsible for the discovery of disruptive product technologies. The role will include coaching and growing our Product Technology engineering team, working with technical experts and executive management to define technical direction, and facilitating collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Success in the role is defined by driving new-to-the-world products to deployment in our next-generation battery factories around the globe.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with the team, senior leadership and internal customers to define technology roadmap for Northvolt's next-generation products
Coach and support engineers and scientists through consistent feedback, navigation of challenges, and providing development opportunities to encourage technical and professional growth
Ensure performance targets (i.e. cost, energy density, cycle life, charge rate, safety, etc.) and timelines are met for a range of innovations in next-generation battery technology
Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new Northvolters to expand our team's capabilities and diversity
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Technology, Product Development, Customer Programs, and executive leadership to proactively address evolving market needs and ensure key engineering pivots are made
Work with our Manufacturing Technology and Product Development teams to drive driving mechanistic understanding of process vs. cell vs. material design correlations
Ensure Northvolt's environmental goals by driving localization of product technology and supply chain

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams (5+ years), showcasing a commitment to intellectual honesty, empathy and winning together
10 years experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree) with material and device, coating processing, device assembly, electrochemical testing, and failure mode analysis, etc., preferably within a lithium-ion battery manufacturing organization
Knowledge of product innovation frameworks, failure mode effects and analysis techniques (FMEA), product quality systems (APQP, PPAP, SPC, etc.), health and environmental safety policies and procedures, etc.
Demonstrated ability to drive step function improvements in product design (i.e. cost, savings, quality, performance, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide array of personalities and stakeholders, driving alignment, prioritization, and progress in rapidly changing situations
Experience developing and commercializing disruptive energy storage technologies (i.e. consumer electronics, transportation, residential, utility/grid etc.)
At least a B.S. in engineering or physical sciences (i.e. Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing engineering, or Chemistry, Physics
Excellent English written and oral skills
