The Electromobility Department is responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. This organization develop and drives the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. Electromobility is a growing agile driven organization in place to shape the future!
The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.


We now recruiting a Director for Pack Design & Thermal Management
In this position, you will be part of the Management team at ESS section, an organization dedicated to technology as well as empowering and developing our employees. We always use customer satisfaction as the ultimate performance measurement.

Responsibilities / Main tasks
As Director for Pack Design & Thermal Management you will be responsible for the mechanical design, the thermal management and the electric distribution system of the battery packs. This includes CAE simulations of crash, durability, NVH, structure, thermal and the electric distribution system. You and your teams are responsible for driving the in-house development as well as components and systems sourced from key suppliers. You will be involved in technical decisions and handling of suppliers, making sure that deadlines are met with quality and at the right cost. You will be responsible for the long term roadmap in our technical areas, defining advanced engineering, industralization, maintenance and solving quality issues.
With us, you need to be an accessible Manager who leads and, with focus on individual development, forms a high performing team. You are responsible for ensuring that resources in short and long term are positioned correctly. You will create the conditions necessary for the team for them to be able to develop and to meet the requirements of quality, efficiency and shortened lead times. You like to develop new ways to work, and to develop cooperation with other functions within Electromobility but also Procurement and Design. you are responsible for the development of the team and the long-term technical strategies within your area.

Since the area is in an early phase, it is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment. Broad experience within the mechanical, thermal and electric design for battery packs in the automotive industry is a must. You need to have a proven track record of industrialization processes within the automotive industry.
Experience from systems engineering methodologies with the aim to build quality & reliability into our products is meriting. We see that you have a M.Sc. level or equivalent experience. You need to have previous experience as manager at leading people level.
You will be part of a cross-functional and international environment, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication. Personal fit will be of great importance in this recruitment, as we are actively working to build a diverse team in terms of experience, gender and backgrounds.
