With the overarching objective to constantly widen footprint of BioGaia products and secure that commercial products are kept up to date the Product Development department has an overall responsibility to deliver New Product Development, support product maintenance, and strengthen innovation funnel.

Product Development is highly involved in cross-functional work, both internally but also working closely with its various Contract Development & Manufacturing Organisations (CDMOs).

In order to constantly being on top of trends within the relevant business areas, e.g. actives (probiotic bacteria), formulations, consumer landscape etc. Product Development will engage in various networks to build knowledge and relationships.

Main responsibilities
As the Director Product Development at BioGaia you will have a highly cross-functional role and be involved all the way from preclinical to launch of commercial products, as well as the ongoing maintenance of BioGaia’s commercial products.

You will collaborate with BioGaia’s leadership and wider organisation to deliver product portfolio expansions, modifications and line extensions for both BioGaia’s wellbeing portfolio, driven by consumer insights and market trends, and BioGaia’s biomedical portfolio, driven by evidences of their clinical benefits, as well as strengthening BioGaia’s innovation funnel and secure BioGaia’s commercial products are kept up to date through technical product maintenance.

Your main tasks will be:

- Own, lead and drive, in cooperation with in particular wider Operation’s, Marketing and Biomedical Development, the technical product development, and associated way of working, tools and systems to deliver BioGaia’s product portfolio expansions, product modifications and product line extensions.
- Own, in cooperation with other Operation’s departments and wider BioGaia, the technical product maintenance, and associated way of working, tools and systems.
- Ensure adequate support and provide lead from department in quality-technical issues resolution and change management and implementation.
- Secure build-up and maintenance of the internal capabilities and competencies within product development and maintenance as well secure competitive edge by continuously being apprised of potential new ingredients for existing and coming products.
- Line manager for the department’s personnel - individual and team coaching to ensure individual development and necessary training is performed.



The position is a part of the management team of Operations and located in Eslöv.

Qualifications
Required academic background: At least MSc in relevant applied sciences e.g biology/biotechnology, chemistry/chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, food technology or equivalent.

- At least 5 years working experience within product formulation and packaging development of preferably probiotics alternatively other food supplements or at least 10 years of experience within technical operations(e.g manufacturing, quality management, regulatory affairs, analytical services) within preferably probiotics alternatively other food supplements
- Line management experiences alternatively experiences in project management, process management or equivalent.
- Experiences in consumer and market driven innovation, development, quality control and quality assurance processes and associated activities.
- Experiences in executing, coordinating and leading cross-functionally collaboration and working with external organizations (e.g. academic or contract research, development and manufacturing organizations) in an international context.
- Fluent in using Swedish and English as business language both written and spoken
