Director Project Management Construction

Sales > SBU NCE > Construction
The Construction Department oversees all wind farm projects in North, Central, and Eastern (NCE) Europe from start to completion.
Once a contract has been signed Construction takes over being responsible for the flawless project execution, from installation to commissioning of the wind turbines and remains accountable until the final tests are completed and the project is handed over to the customer. During this phase, there is a vast number of tasks to be carried out and Vestas to ensure this happens efficiently and effectively. Construction must keep the projects on budget and schedule, ensuring that Vestas´ stringent safety and quality standards are met.
Working closely together with the customers and internal stakeholders like Sales, Manufacturing, and Logistics is a key parameter to generate the best possible business case for Vestas´ customers and deliver customised solutions for each unique wind power plant. That's why Construction, considering our value chain, is engaged way earlier during the Sales phase already (Early Engagement), to support the Sales colleagues in terms of cost optimisation, risk mitigation and installation concepts and tools (Value Engineering) depending on the project needs and requirements before the project moves into the execution phase.

Responsibilities
The Director, Project Management, NCE will be responsible for the overall coordination, execution, and completion of projects in the region. This role will also be responsible for defining and driving Project Management, NCE best practices while leading and motivating a team of 20 dedicated project managers.
Following the creation of the above-mentioned foundation the Director, Project Management, NCE will be responsible for the task such as:
Support the strategic orientation of Vestas, NCE
Create and implement a scalable project management concept
Continuous optimisation of processes and working procedures to ensure high-quality standards
Ensure and increase revenue and gross margin in projects
Compliance with legal and operational rules and guidelines


Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an experienced profile with significant business and project management experience, ideally gained in a business of similar complexity
Leadership ability and/or previous managerial experience with project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and lead complex, cross-functional teams
Experience with working in an international environment
Experience with managing complex contracts, etc.
The high degree of professionalism and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated ability to develop and drive change management efforts to promote adoption of new processes, and industry best practices and solutions
A relevant business or engineering education at Master Level is required
