Many of today´s societal challenges are expected to be solved by technology development and the Volvo Group is investing heavily in Research and Development. In order to fully leverage our R&D investments, it is necessary to grow the alignment of the innovation, technology and regulatory agendas to prepare our organization for the future.


Through internal and external collaboration, the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs is instrumental to the Volvo Group in order to drive the innovation, technology & regulatory agendas, assure technology partnerships & research collaborations and to guide our future transformation.


We are a global support to the Volvo Group CTO operating with the aim to further strengthen the Volvo Group position and competitiveness. We are organized within Volvo Group Trucks Technology. We are now looking for a Director Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs whom will be located in Gothenburg. The team you will join consists of highly engaged people around the world with different backgrounds and perspectives, a fantastic workplace to join. You will report to the Vice President Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs.


What we have to offer
In this position you will be responsible for the internal development and anchoring of Volvo Group regulatory and policy position statements related to technology and transport solutions in areas such as Connectivity/Digitalization, Cyber Security, Data Sharing, AI, Autonomous Solutions, Logistic Solutions and Vehicle Safety. You will ensure that Volvo Group technology priorities are aligned with important imminent or future demands and secure that Volvo Group is viewed as a trustworthy and responsible stakeholder in policy and regulatory developments worldwide.


You will also map, evaluate and initiate external advocacy ecosystems. Other tasks involve securing Volvo Group representation in key advocacy platforms and drive the external public affairs agenda in areas of:
Upcoming regulations with impact on technology and transport solutions
New research instruments and academia relations
Governmental research and innovation policies

You have significant experience from working in global multicultural business environments and a genuine interest in teaming-up with people for us all to work in a great place to grow both together and on our own.


We also see that you have strong energy and leadership, including defining and driving vision, engaging people with a “making-things-happen-mindset”. This includes a sharp strategic thinking, judgement and analytical skills and the ability to grasp new ideas with an innate curiosity.


Other requirements for the role:
Extensive work experience in both engineering and regulatory systems related to automotive policies and regulations. Demonstrated successful performance in understanding and thriving in complex policy making environments globally
Deep and recognized experience in technology and business strategies
Proven track record in establishing collaborations with industry partners, governmental authorities and agencies, politicians, NGO’s, Academia, trade associations and society key opinion leaders
Established networks, internal and external, in Engineering/Product Planning/Brands and worldwide policy making and regulatory affairs. Applying outstanding partnering skills to deliver results through influence and matrixed organizations
Significant experience from globally working in multicultural business environments as well as with a wide menu of society stakeholders
Capability to embrace different high-tech fields
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
