Director Value Engineering

Kalmar Mobile Solutions is looking for a Director, Value Engineering to join our team and be responsible for Value Analysis practices driving the cost down design changes, in close collaboration with business leaders and cross-functional team. You will be contributing to Kalmar’s strong market position and help further gaining competitive advantage delivering upon our value propositions.
The Director Value Engineering will report directly to the Vice President, Sourcing. The primary role will focus on leading Standardization stream in supply chain projects to ensure optimal components utilization resulting in reducing workloads, lead times and cost while improving quality. As a leader, you will be responsible to identify material cost reduction and productivity opportunities while maintaining or improving product quality. The position requires the incumbent to be highly proficient in Engineering skills, Project management and Sourcing with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, thus enabling rapid development and execution of cost out concepts.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Lead a team of professionals, responsible in deliveries of cost down design changes for the product lines in Kalmar Mobile Equipment Division through standardization stream
Define and enforce consistent Value Analysis Value Engineering processes within Kalmar, bringing best practices from Industries
Perform effort estimation for mechanical design based on requirements and comply with product development process and design standards of Kalmar
Review sourcing data to find insights, eliminate waste, and identify productivity opportunities
Bring innovation and Drive change including people, process and technology to capture material cost reduction and contribute to ‘Product Strategy’
Partner with supply chain category leaders to select components to be evaluated, advise team on components under investigation, and participate in reviews providing details on manufacturing processes and materials
Encourage collaboration by promoting open and constructive dialogue across Sourcing, Engineering, Product Management and Factories
Identify areas for supplier productivity enhancements to decrease material costs
Capturing project planning milestones, executing milestones in collaboration with Program Management team
Conducting technical and project reviews, communication and on job development through technical mentoring to project team
Work closely with production engineering and global multi assembly units to move products from design to manufacturing.

What you will need to succeed:
Education
University degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering



Experience
Value Engineering/Cost Reduction & Standardization experience preferred
Experience with Sourcing, Supplier Development is an advantage
Business acumen and Project management experience



Competencies
Stakeholder management and good collaboration skills
The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
Strong in communication, high degree of people skills, can sell the message and are strong in building relationships and networks
Flexibility and travelling required
