Discovery Safety Scientist - Senior Scientist (temporary position)
Become a key player in the discovery of innovative medicines
One of the major challenges in the discovery of innovative medicines is to ensure they are safe enough to test their therapeutic concept in clinical trials and provide novel treatments for patients. Drug safety is assessed throughout the pharmaceutical R&D value chain, but it is during early drug discovery when we can actively design safety attributes into the future candidate drug. Our global Discovery Safety department takes on this challenge and delivers small molecule and oligonucleotide-based drugs with the "Right Safety" profile. As true Drug Hunting partners to our Innovative Medicines units, we contribute to the selection of novel drug targets, identification and optimization of new chemical series as well as a range of other modalities, and selection of novel candidate drugs. We develop and apply cutting edge in silico, molecular, cellular and in vivo technologies and push the boundaries of predictive safety science with our mission in mind: to discover safe innovative medicines for the patients that need them.
For our team in Gothenburg, Sweden, we are looking to fill a temporary role with a Discovery Safety Scientist / Senior Scientist
As Discovery Safety Scientist, you will:
Design and execute experimental strategies to predict, assess and mitigate target- and drug-related safety risks in discovery programs.
Translate theoretical drug target safety assessments into concrete experimental plans and action.
Develop mechanistic understanding behind (potential) safety concerns.
Deliver experimental data that impact project decision making with the aim to develop molecules with the ?Right Safety? profile.
Integrate novel in vitro safety assays and technologies to drive our predictive toxicology scientific capabilities forward.
We are looking for candidates with the following profile:
Excellent scientist, with a PhD in cell biology, toxicology, pharmacology, systems biology or related field, and a strong scientific track record.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of and experience with techniques and technologies relevant to in vitro systems, including cell culture and cell-based assay systems utilising cell lines and primary cells as well as utilizing relevant equipment for in vitro assay read-outs.
Experience with design and execution of in vitro experiments to determine the effects of therapeutics on biological systems, including data analysis.
Extensive experience in generation and interpretation of high quality experimental data and translating scientific findings into applicable information.
