As we are expanding, we are searching for you as our new Disease Area Specialist within Medical Affairs team for cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases. In AstraZeneca, we are committed to put patients first, deliver innovative health solutions and ensure a high medical value for patients.

You will be part of a dedicated and growing medical team, currently being established and report to Sara Horn, Therapeutic Area Lead CVRM. This position is interim, for at least 12 months, and based in Södertälje, Sweden and the work is office-based.

The role
As our Disease Area Specialist (DAS) you are responsible for outlining the country medical strategy and Medical Activity Plan within the cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases in close collaboration with the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL), and in line with the Global Medical Activity Plan provided by Global Medical Affairs. You, therefore, need to be a medical affair professional with excellent scientific and disease area understanding and knowledge.
You are expected to act as a resource to team members and peers as they continually build their own individual scientific knowledge in the responsible disease area. To do so, it's essential to develop and maintain collaborative cross-functional working relationships with internal stakeholders.
In the DAS role, you will also engage in in-depth medical and scientific product or disease area discussions and presentations in a non-promotional scientific context. You will drive the Activities for Sweden within cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases together with local medical advisors.
You are a member of the Country cross-functional team when relevant. Moreover, you are accountable for evidence generation and value propositions and can participate on an agenda-driven ad-hoc basis in the Therapeutic Area/Franchise Leadership Team, as well as in business reviews.
In this role you report to TAL. The DAS does not need to have commercial objectives or measures. However, DAS and their management may communicate strategic objectives and Key Performance Indicators to commercial stakeholders to ensure alignment.
In order to succeed, you have
* Advanced scientific degree in life sciences master's degree or MD in life sciences or a related field
* Ability to travel among the Nordics countries as well as conferences and regional meetings.
We are looking for a forward-thinking and strategic problem solver possessing sophisticated project management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and recognized understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care systems and payer structures in the Nordic countries will be essential for success.
Your demonstrated former experience in product launch and/or strategy development and execution will be important in this role as will be your excellent knowledge of clinical practice within cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases.
You are encouraged to partner with a variety of audiences in different context to discuss scientific content. Therefore, you need excellent communication and presentation skills with full proficiency in both written and spoken English and Swedish.
