Arbetsbeskrivning
The University of Borås is home to the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT, which provides education and conducts research in Library and Information Science, Pedagogical Work, and Business and IT.
The University of Borås now announces two doctoral positions in educational science with a focus on university-based professional education. The positions will be linked to a newly started national graduate school: SPETS (Studies on Professional Education and Training for Society).
Job description
The SPETS graduate school is a collaboration between Lund University (host university), Chalmers University of Technology, and the University of Borås, with the aim of developing scientific knowledge about professional education in Sweden. The research area includes professional education degrees (e.g., engineering education and teacher education) as well as artistic and/or doctoral degrees. Depending on current knowledge needs within the university's profession-oriented educational programs, the doctoral candidates’ research projects can be about learning, teaching, social conditions, organisational processes, professional development, political conditions and policy implementation, etc.
The successful candidates will be admitted to doctoral studies at Lund University and employed at the University of Borås within the Department of Educational Work. The successful candidates’ doctoral education will follow the general study plan for postgraduate education in educational science at Lund University. This means that the candidates, together with other SPETS doctoral candidates, will participate in joint courses, seminars, and physical meetings that rotate between the collaborating universities.
At least 80% of the candidate’s time during the doctoral studentship is devoted to doctoral studies and thesis work. The remaining time is reserved for departmental service at the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT, including teaching at the undergraduate and master’s levels in relevant courses, supervision of degree projects, and participation in external projects and/or administration.
