Örebro University is seeking a doctoral student for postgraduate education leading to a PhD in Medical Science with specialization in Biomedicine at the School of Medical Sciences, with studies commencing in late spring 2025.

Project description
The PhD project is part of a recently granted 4-year EU project on the individual interplay between dietary fibers and the gut ecosystem in relation to IBS.

The PhD position is located at the School of Medical Sciences (MV) within Örebro University, a modern and expanding university with approximately 1,600 employees and 17,000 students, known for its prominent research activities. MV also hosts the university's medical program and contains several strong research centers primarily focused on inflammation, metabolism, and nutrition.

The PhD project will be part of the interdisciplinary research centre Responsive Nutrition (Rosetta@oru) which is a central part of Örebro University's strategic knowledge profile in Food & Health. The Responsive Nutrition research centre focuses on internationally leading validated methods and models to assess the benefits of food and dietary supplements for gut, metabolic, and mental health, and to determine who benefits from specific dietary changes throughout the lifespan. The centre integrates the development and validation of this unique toolkit with applications in the areas of age-related gut injury, inflammatory conditions and metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and affective and behavioral disorders, utilizing novel designs for experimental and interventional studies.

Supervision: The PhD student will be supervised by Associate Professor Ignacio Rangel (principal supervisor), Professor Robert Brummer (assistant supervisor), and others.
