We are looking for passionate and innovative researchers and teachers who want to contribute and expand our group! For this position, we are looking for a doctoral student in Computer Science with a focus on Human-Centered AI.
Job description
The newly established Human-Centered Technology group at CSI focuses on designing, developing and evaluating technologies that make our lives easier and better with us, the end user, in mind. Overall, we carry out fundamental and applied research in different areas of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), such as visualization, human-centered design, privacy, graphical design, and human-centered AI. To facilitate the research, the group hosts the HCI Lab, a well-equipped environment with tools that can be utilized to gain deeper user insights (e.g., eye-tracking, EEG) and create innovative solutions (e.g., virtual and augmented reality).

The research for the advertised position will be within the project XPECT (How to Tailor Explanations from AI Systems to Users’ Expectations), funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). In this project, we tackle the challenge of building explanations from AI systems tailored to human expectations.
As a PhD student in Computer Science, you devote most of your time to your doctoral studies, particularly, within the research project XPECT; a supervisory team led by Prof. Maria Riveiro will advise you. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time; and you will complete coursework for 60 ECTS.
Qualifications
We invite applications from outstanding individuals with an MSc (or equivalent) in any field relevant to the project, that is, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Human Computer Interaction or Artificial Intelligence. To be eligible for the position, you have a Master’s degree or have achieved at least 240 credits/ECTS, of which a minimum of 60 credits/ECTS must have been achieved at the second cycle level, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad.
