Job description
The digital humanities often take as their starting point structured collections of digitised materials. These have long been enriched, analysed, evaluated and explored by library and information science. We would therefore like the doctoral student’s thesis work to be directed towards one or more of the following areas:
• recognition, mining, and analysis of text, images or patterns in large amounts of data
• cultural heritage digitisation, digital scholarly editions
• exploring, preserving or adding value to digital collections
• text encoding
• metadata, access to (linked) open data
• developing and/or exploring digital methods and tools
Employment as a doctoral student covers the equivalent of four years of full-time studies. Normally, doctoral studentship employment focusses 80% of the time on doctoral studies and thesis work. The remaining time is set aside for departmental service including teaching and administration, meaning a total period of employment of five years.
