The School of Engineering (JTH) is one of four polytechnics at Jönköping University. The Department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science provides education at the undergraduate, advanced, and postgraduate levels. The teaching within our engineering programs in building technology has a strong focus on BIM. The department is also conducting research that supports the range of education. JOB DESCRIPTION
As a doctoral student position, most of the working time will be devoted to doctoral studies (80%) which includes coursework and writing a doctoral thesis. The remaining 20% is allocated for teaching and administrative tasks. We seek a candidate who have a strong wish to conduct high-quality academic scholarship, and an ambition to pursue an international or national research career.
You will work on the research project "Collaborative Digital Platform for Dynamic Workflows in Construction Production and Information Exchange Planning".
Brief project description
In the construction industry, there is lack of a cohesive, integrated approach to design and production planning and control in which the complex dependency structure of the information is managed, and multiple monitoring systems provide real-time information streaming from the construction project.
This research project aims the development of a multi-faceted, multi-user, intelligent semantic, collaborative digital platform that integrates 3D (+) data from a BIM model and that can support dynamic workflows and planning of construction production and information exchanges within a distributed construction and design team.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A person meets the general entry requirements for third-cycle program at the School of Engineering if he or she has been awarded a second-cycle qualification and has fulfilled the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle or has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
To be an ideal candidate for this PhD-position you are required to have a strong knowledge about the construction process and Building Information Management.
As a person you are self-driven and have a strong ability to work independently when required. You have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative research team.
Your communication skills in the English language are excellent both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you have:
- skills in the Swedish language
- work experience in Swedish companies, active in the construction sector.
- bachelor, master´s thesis or work experience withing the subject of the project.
