At the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, research and education are conducted in business administration, industrial engineering and management, resource recovery, building technology, and within the textile field: design, management, and technology.
The Faculty has five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. The Swedish School of Textiles, as well as the two centres, the Centre for Sustainable Society Development and the Swedish Institute for Innovative Retailing/The Retail Lab, are other important elements within the Faculty. At the Faculty, there are also two research schools, in Resource Recovery and Textile and Fashion.
The Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology is seeking a doctoral student in Resource Recycling with a Specialisation in Polymer Technologies.
The doctoral studentship employment is part of a research project funded by the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, and it includes studies and development of bio-based resins and polymer materials from lignocellulose. The doctoral project is closely linked to research in the field of biotechnology, concerning the use of waste fractions in resource recovery.
Job description
The duties include doctoral education within the research project described above. In addition to doctoral studies, as agreed upon, departmental duties, including teaching, research and administration, can amount to up to 20% of full time.
Qualifications
For employment within the project, an applicable Master's degree is required in one of these areas:
• polymer technologies
• organic chemistry
• biotechnology
• materials engineering
• textile technology
• composite technology, e.g. resource recovery with a focus on polymer technologies or biotechnology
We are looking for someone with good collaboration and initiative-taking qualities, an ability to work independently and in a structured way, as well as the ability to prioritise among work tasks. You should be able to communicate well in both written and spoken English.
It is a merit for the position to have experience and knowledge regarding organic chemistry, synthesis, and characterisation of organic molecules.
Employment takes place under the condition that the applicant fulfils the requirements and is accepted as a doctoral student. Admission takes place at the University of Borås.
