Tt the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, research and education are conducted in business administration, industrial engineering and management, resource recovery, building technology, and within the textile field: design, management and technology.
Within the Faculty, there are five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. The Swedish School of Textiles, as well as the two centres, the Centre for Sustainable Society Development and the Swedish Institute for Innovative Retailing/The Retail Lab, are other important elements within the Faculty. At the Faculty, there are also two research schools, in Resource Recovery and Textile and Fashion.
Employment takes place under the condition that the applicant fulfils the requirements and is accepted as a doctoral student. Admission takes place via the Research Education Committee for Resource Recovery.
The advertised doctoral position is within an ambitious four-year project called "Reuse of food waste to construct fungal membranes and filters for water and air purification" funded by Vinnova.
The position will be with the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology with the immediate manager being acting Assistant Head of Department Ilona Sárvári Horváth.
Job description
The research project is multidisciplinary and will be conducted at the University of Borås. In addition to doctoral studies, teaching in the relevant field or other departmental duties constitute up to 20 % of full-time. The total length of time for the doctoral studies is then extended to a corresponding degree.
Qualifications
In order to be admitted to the doctoral education programme in Resource Recovery, the student must have a degree at the Master’s level with sufficient connection to the doctoral subject of Resource Recovery as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering or Chemical Engineering. In addition, experience of laboratory work in Biotechnology and Textile Engineering is required, as well as knowledge of English corresponding to the Swedish upper secondary school level. Furthermore, employment as a doctoral student presupposes that you have good collaboration and initiative-taking skills, the ability to work independently and in a structured manner, and the ability to prioritise tasks.
It is an advantage for the position to have experience of research on thread-forming fungi and experience of writing scientific articles.

Type of employment: Employment as a doctoral student is in accordance with Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. The study period corresponds to a maximum of four years of full-time study. The first employment period covers one year and is normally renewed by one year at a time. If departmental duties are included, the doctoral education period is extended by a corresponding degree, however with a maximum of five years.
