At the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, research and education are conducted in business administration, industrial engineering and management, resource recovery, building technology, and within the textile field: design, management and technology.
The Faculty has five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. The Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology is seeking adoctoral student in Resource Recycling with a focus on biotechnology and to work with membrane bioreactors for production of value-added products from residuals.
Job description
Own doctoral education within the abovementioned research project. In addition to doctoral studies, as agreed upon, departmental duties up to 20% of full time can be considered.
The doctoral studentship position will devote at least 80% of time to doctoral studies and thesis work. The remaining departmental duties is reserved for departmental service, including teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in relevant courses, supervision of project theses, and participation in external projects and/or administration.
Qualifications
For this employment, a Master's degree in Biotechnology degree or relevant fields e.g. resource recovery, chemical engineering, or equivalent is required. You should be able to communicate well in English in both oral and writing. We are looking for someone with good collaboration and initiative-taking qualities, ability to work independently and in a structured way, as well as the ability to prioritise among work tasks.
For this position, laboratory experience is a merit, as well as knowledge of working with membrane bioreactors.

Type of employment: Doctoral students are employed according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. The study period corresponds to a maximum of four years of full-time study. The first employment period covers one year and is normally renewed by one year at a time. If departmental duties are included, the doctoral education period is extended to a maximum of five years.
