Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you a recent graduate MSc in Chemical Engineering, Fibre Technology, Materials Science or similar and want to continue in the research area of "regenerated cellulose fibres"? Are you curious about and want to contribute to incorporating circularity into the textile industry? Do you want to participate in an exciting project where academia, research institutes and industry collaborate? Then you might be the doctoral student that we are looking for!
About us
MoRe Research and Mid Sweden University collaborate with the industry in a new research project, "Regenerated cellulose fibres", funded by Kempe Foundation.
The doctoral student will be employee by and located at MoRe Research's facilities, Örnsköldsvik (part of RISE) and will be enrolled at Mid Sweden University (MIUN).
The research group in Surface and Colloidal Engineering at Mid Sweden University works with biopolymers, and especially cellulose science and technology. Our expertise ranges from fundamental physical chemistry to applied biomaterials chemistry and physics. The project will be associated to FORIC - Forest as a Resource Industrial Research College, at Mid Sweden University.
MoRe Research is a subsidiary (approximately 50 employees) of RISE AB and works with forest industry research and development. One group focuses on material development, including regenerated fibres, composite materials, low-density materials, and hot-pressed materials. Our focus is application-based research with forest raw materials as a starting point. Our expertise lies in materials such as fibre and cellulose chemistry and its interactions and process technology with applications from lab scale to pilot scale.
Project focus
The project aims to increase knowledge on regenerated fibres made of 100% textile waste pulp and a blend of textile waste and fresh bleach pulp. This is to be achieved by analysing the influence of the pulp's chemical and physical properties on the processability and quality of regenerated fibres.
Terms of employment
Employment as a doctoral student (licentiate) at MoRe Research. The work will be carried out mainly at MoRe Research in Örnsköldsvik with supervision from both MoRe Research and Mid Sweden University. The project is licentiate work (2 years of full-time work), with the possibility of a two-year extension for a doctor's degree.
Desired start date: 1st of August, 2022
The position as a doctoral student
In the current position as a doctoral student (licentiate), you will carry out experimental research that is combined with analysis work, work with scientific publications, and doctoral student courses.
