Doctoral student in Water and Environmental Studies (Tema V)
based at The Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR)/The Department of Thematic Studies.
Job description: The PhD position will work in a project using survey data to analyse issues in international climate cooperation. The PhD candidate will contribute to the build-up of the Clipore negotiations database and quantitative analyse the survey data. At present the survey is targeting issues such as involvement of non-state actors in global climate and environmental governance, leadership in intergovernmental climate negotiations, and effort-sharing principles. The PhD candidate should have a background in political or environmental sciences and an interest in working with survey design and analysis. It is of merit to be skilled in statistical or econometric analyses and database management systems as well as an expressed interest in cooperation across academic disciplines. The candidate's interest should not be limited to climate change but also include other environmental issue-areas. The successful candidate will pursue PhD-training, including a final doctoral thesis project. As employee the doctoral student will first and foremost focus on the research training tasks at hand.
Requirements and qualifications: To be qualified for doctoral studies at Water and Environmental Studies applicants should have a MA in an area relevant to the research project such as political science, environmental science, sociology or economics. Excellent use of the English language is required. Knowledge in climate studies, statistical analysis, database handling, survey design and analysis, and communication skills in Spanish, Arabic, French, Russian or Chinese are meriting.
