The research group for Textile Material Technology, under the leadership of Professor Vincent Nierstrasz, is recruiting a doctoral student in textile technology with a focus on digital printing for functional and smart textiles. We look forward to receiving your application!
Job description
As a doctoral student in the Textile Material Technology research group, you will focus on the use of digital printing. This technology is versatile and enables the creation of functional and smart textiles for technical textile applications. Digital printing is a resource-efficient process that enables flexible production of advanced textile materials.
As a doctoral student, you will devote at least 80% of your time to doctoral studies and doctoral thesis work. The remaining 20% of your time will be devoted to departmental duties, which includes teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level, supervision of degree projects, and participation in external projects and administration at the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business.

Qualifications
For doctoral studentship employment, the following is required:
• Degree of Master of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Textiles or a similar field.
• Good oral and written proficiency in English.
• Good interpersonal and initiative skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
• Ability to prioritise among tasks.
Merits for this position are:
• knowledge or competence in nanomaterials and nanotechnology.
• knowledge of physical chemistry, e.g. interface science and rheology.
• knowledge of application technologies and development of digital printing for textiles.
Employment takes place under the condition that the applicant fulfils the requirements and is accepted as a doctoral student. Admission will be to the Textiles and Fashion research school with a specialisation in Textile Technology.
Proficiency in English equivalent to English 6 (Swedish Bachelor's degree meets the English requirement) is a requirement. It is possible to demonstrate that the language requirements are met through TOEFL/IELTS/Previous upper secondary or university studies. More information about passing English tests, previous studies, and required documents is provided by University Admissions in Sweden under information for the Master's level.
About the employment
The employment is limited to four years full-time (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5). You will initially be employed for one year, after which the employment will be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time, based on the completed study plan. Extensions of employment up to five years are based on the scope of teaching and departmental duties.
Starting date in February 2025 or as otherwise agreed upon, with placement in Borås, Sweden.
