Documentation Engineer

Arbetsbeskrivning

The European Spallation Source is hiring motivated and inspiring people from across the globe to design, construct and operate the world’s most powerful neutron source. We seek ambitious, talented people in a range of fields who are excited about playing a part in the future of science in Europe. ESS is a partnership of 13 European countries and occupies a truly impressive campus based in the beautiful, cosmopolitan university city of Lund, Sweden – just 10 minutes from Malmö and 30 minutes from Copenhagen.

We are now looking to appoint a Documentation Engineer to work within our Engineering and Integration Support (EIS) division. Our new Documentation Engineer will work within the Technical Content Management (TCM) function at ESS to support the organisation in managing facility related information in our main enterprise systems, the Plant/product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.

As a Documentation Engineer, you will enjoy a varied work day. Typically, your tasks could involve anything from reading and analysing drawings, creating structures and information in our systems, supporting the Technical Content Manager, conducting training events and workshop with end users to managing and uploading documents into our various EAM and PLM platforms as well as analysing needs for development of new functions to streamline work in our systems.

About you:

First and foremost, we need a candidate with an engineering background. This means that you really need to have a relevant educational degree within engineering or similar area and at least 2 years of experience. However, relevant experience in a similar role is more critical than the type of degree you hold. To thrive with us in the Technical Content Management team, you need to be driven, responsive and good at seeing opportunities. We need a highly motivated person who is able to work independently in a structured way, and who isn’t afraid to communicate with colleagues at every level of the organisational hierarchy.

We are building ESS from the ground up, so we need someone who is comfortable not only following procedures, but also creating them. We are looking for someone who is fundamentally interested in technical information structures and management. We want someone who is eager to develop themselves, but who also wants to support and educate others. Naturally, we need someone who is comfortable with MS Office (especially Excel), but if you are able to bring any prior experience of working with any of Enovia, InforEAM, Catia V6/ePLAN or the Jira/Confluence platforms, then this would be a distinct advantage.

We attach great importance to personality and attitude, so we're looking for a real team player: Someone who is sociable, has excellent communication skills, who likes to collaborate with different people and who is committed to helping this amazing project to realise its full potential.

The working language of ESS is English, so there is no need for you to speak Swedish - although this is always an advantage.

What can we offer?

Aside from the opportunity to work at one of only 4 linear accelerator-based Spallation sources on the whole planet, you can also expect:

• An opportunity to contribute to the future discoveries within neutron science.
• A stunning, brand new workplace filled with innovative minds and brilliant people from across the globe.
• A challenging, exciting and fast-paced work environment.
• Market competitive compensation that is individual and differentiated according to role, responsibilities, individual skills, abilities and achievements.
• 30 days of annual leave, as well as more than 10 days of public holiday and company days off or days with limited working hours.
• Flexible working arrangements and a real work-life balance.
• Relocation support and allowances if needed.
• An excellent quality of life in the highly sought after, family-friendly, beautiful and well-connected Southern Sweden/Greater Copenhagen region.

This role is a fixed-term position for a period of 2 years and you will be based at the ESS Campus in Lund, Sweden. We really need someone who can start as soon as possible.

Interested? We sure hope so:
