Arbetsbeskrivning
We want to change the future of virtual production preparation and maintenance! Are you interested in helping us develop Artificial Intelligence solutions for real-world problems?
Chalmers University of Technology offers a faculty position as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the area of Automation and Production engineering, with focus on Industrial Digitalization. This position is offered within Chalmers Production Area of Advance, together with several leading vehicle related companies, both Swedish and international, aiming to increase competitiveness through predictive and smart production preparation and maintenance using AI. Are you a motivated and enterprising researcher, ready to be the link between university research and industrial application? This is an opportunity for you!
This is a shared position between the Department of Electrical Engineering, Division of Systems and Control, and the Department of Industrial and Materials Science, Division of Production Systems.
Chalmers and the divisions of Systems and Control, and Production Systems
Chalmers is one of the leading universities in industrial digitalization for sustainable and competitive manufacturing. Chalmers Production Area of Advance focuses on connected and sustainable production. The research generates knowledge and tools in modeling, simulation and optimization, combined with support for decision-making in close collaboration with industry. Our research makes Chalmers a leader in industrial digitalization.
The Division of Systems and Control is a well-established team with around 25 cross-disciplinary researchers, teachers, PhD candidates, and support staff. We are engaged in research, education, and innovation; both nationally and internationally. We collaborate closely with industry in automation and control of future industrial production systems including AI-solutions, scheduling, verification, and control synthesis. Our advanced research facilities and new labs for industrial digitalization enable applied research and education, such as Chalmers Autonomous Systems and Electronics laboratory (CASE-lab). The Division of Systems and Control is part of the Department of Electrical Engineering, see more about our department and our division here.
The Division of Productions Systems is well established in the areas of sustainability and competitiveness of industrial production systems. Areas for research and education are: production maintenance; advanced production data analysis and AI; VR and AR for production design; connectivity for people and machines using 5G; digital sustainability assessment; human collaboration with automation and robots. We have advanced research facilities and new labs for industrial digitalization that enable deep involvement in national and European projects. As an example, the Stena Industry Innovation Laboratory is co-located with one of the five local centres of the new European EIT Manufacturing initiative. The Division of Production Systems is part of the Department of Industrial and Materials Science, see more about our department and our division here.
Work content and responsibilities
The offered post-doctoral position is in the field of Virtual Production Preparation and Maintenance Systems, a cross disciplinary field applying AI in an industrial context. You will be involved in ongoing research projects together with several of our close industrial partners within the automotive sector. Parts of your work will be done on site to facilitate access to data and process expertise, so you will have a work-place both at Chalmers and at the partner company.
Your challenge and responsibility will be to modernize and improve virtual production preparation and maintenance operations using advanced data analysis and AI. You will be responsible for the collaboration between Chalmers and the partner companies within this specific field. We also expect you to stay up-to-date with and contribute to the state-of-the-art within fields such as AI, Machine Learning (ML), digital twin, predictive maintenance, and prognostics, so you can inspire development in this and other projects within the Area of Advance in Production and the departments.
