Projektbeskrivning
Work disability and return to work among subjects with coronary heart diseases
Application deadline: 2010-07-06
Description of the research project
Patients in working ages with coronary heart diseases often have decreased work ability.Known predictors for work disability is sever disease, high age, gender (female), depression and anxiety and low self assessed future work ability. There is however a lack of knowledge whether work place factors and psychosocial factors and have any impact on whether individuals return to work.
The aim of this PhD project is to increase the understanding regarding links between workplace characteristics and psychosocial factors and work ability among subjects with coronary heart disease. The project will use data from the INTERGENE/ADONIX study (Gothenburg 2001-2007), a large cohort study with 6000 persons in working ages comprising detailed exposure assessment for smoking, physical activity, obesity, blood pressure, medical history, education, psychosocial and work-related factors, alcohol consumption and diet. The project will also establish a cohort of 1000 patients in working age that has underwent invasive coronary interventions (PCI).This cohort will complete an extensive questionnaire at baseline, and the cohort will be followed annually for two years regarding work ability and return to work.In all studies we will analyse whether work ability and return to work is associated with workplace factors, psychosocial factors, psychological factors and disease specific factors.
