The Center of Excellence is a unit at Group IT a large multi-cultural organization with 800+ employees and 150+ contractors located mainly in 7 countries Sweden, Poland, India, France, US, Brazil, USA, and Belgium.
Within the COE there are individual centers of excellence for Emerging Technologies & Architecture, BI & Analytics, SAP, Document Management, Project Management Practice, Consulting & Change Management, Development Practice, as well as the Volvo Group IT Function Cyber Security.
Role description
As a domain architect you are accountable for proactively and holistically supporting Enterprise Architectural activities to govern and support the solutions in the BI & Data Analytics domain. Solutions include processes, information entities, applications and technology. You create deliverables to create understanding of the baseline (as-is) situation and the target (to-be) goal as well as the transition roadmaps.
As domain architect you are expected to have very good understanding of BI & Data Analytics application and landscape architectures to be able to interact in an efficient way with software architects. That includes, but are not limited to, concepts like service-oriented architecture (SOA), domain driven design and reference architectures.
Core responsibilities as Domain Architect:
Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models
Understand business drivers and business capabilities (target and baseline) and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes
Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation)
Design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements
Design and lead the implementation of a solution architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements
Provide consulting support to application architects within projects to ensure the project is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture
Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the domain application portfolio
Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture
Together with other domain architects, define the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision
Provide expertise regarding Cloud architecture, analysis and design
Participate in reviews of architecture concepts and solutions
Interact with support leads and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into recommendations for appropriate solutions
Develop documentation of system components, solutions architecture design and analysis work in accordance with Volvo Group IT architectural standards
Follow the overall architectural processes and policies within Volvo Group IT
Support reduction of complexity in business processes, information, applications, integration and infrastructure
Who are you?
Technical Skills required:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Architect, preferably focusing on analytics and data management solutions, including data lake/data warehouse
Strong knowledge within BI & Data Analytics
Strong knowledge about Enterprise Architecture
Strong knowledge of cloud-based delivery model
Knowledge in cloud computing (Azure Infrastructure, Data, storage and platform)
Experience with API or microservice deployment to consume and / or publish data
Experience in Data Architecture and Data Quality
Experience in Business Analytic solutions like Microsoft Power BI and Qlik
