We are now looking for a Drive Behavior Analyst with a genuine interest in traffic safety and cognitive science to join our Safety Centre at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.

At Volvo Cars Safety Centre, 170 highly skilled professionals strive every day to make the world a safer place for car drivers and everyone else on the road. We are proud of our track record including numerous world's firsts, all based on real world research and knowledge: exemplified by the safety belt (1959), SIPS (1991), WHIPS (1998), City Safety (2008), Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto brake (2010), and Run off Road protection (2015). 

The future challenges and opportunities are exciting and through advanced technology and research we are developing safety regarding injury prevention and collision avoidance, in addition to areas like Autonomous Drive, HMI, emotional safety and driver behavior - all based on real life situations.

The groups working with collision avoidance analysis creates knowledge used to develop safety strategies and requirements to make future Volvo passenger cars even safer. 

What you’ll do
The main task of the role is to carry out studies of driver behavior in different traffic situations and with different levels of driver support systems. You will work with method development and planning, as well as conduct studies and analyze the data from tests where the driver’s interaction with the car and environment plays an important role. You will also give recommendations based on results from analyzed data. The studies are carried out in cars on a test track, in real life traffic or in simulators.    

You and your skills
We believe you have a master’s level degree in cognitive/behavioral science and solid experience from user studies. Experience in physical testing of active safety functions and logging of data is a merit as well as good skills within programming (e.g., Python) and be comfortable using analysis tools such as Matlab. You need to have a Swedish driver’s license (B) and be comfortable using Swedish and English in your daily work.

On a personal level, you are a practical, theoretical, and analytical person. You need to be accurate, communicative and have a good ability to present results and conclusions in both writing and speech.  Finally, you share our genuine interest in traffic safety and cognitive science.
