Duties:
The incumbent supports and complements the work of the Economic officers and the Economic Specialist. The incumbent further performs research and analysis, and drafts substantive reports on topics covering the entire range of Economic Section issues, with a particular focus on environment, energy, science, and technology. The incumbent develops and maintains a wide range of contacts related to Section interests, with both working level and some senior officials. The employee assists the Economic Counselor and the Economic Specialist with administrative issues on the Ambassador's major initiative, the One Big Thing (collaboration between Sweden and the U.S. to achieve a breakthrough in alternative energy), including but not limited to drafting of Minutes from meetings; coordinating meetings and visits; and requests for Embassy participation in external events. The incumbent further updates the Section's Contact database, designs Power point presentations, publications, and brochures; as well as responds to requests for information about One Big Thing-related activities.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's level degree in Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, or other closely-related field.
Prior Work Experience:From 2 to 3 years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis.
Post Entry Training:On the job training. Instructions from supervisors.
Language Proficiency:Level IV fluency in both written and spoken English and Swedish is required.
Knowledge:A good understanding of the host country's economy, economic structure, institutions, and operation. A good understanding of international institutions and the interdependencies on the global scene. A thorough knowledge about players of importance to the Section's portfolio, including bodies of regional cooperation. A thorough understanding of internal reporting requirements and procedures. Must have (or be capable of developing) contacts in relevant government offices and private companies.
Skills and Abilities:Ability to develop and maintain a range of working and some senior-level contacts in governmental and private sector circles. Ability to carry out complex research projects and to prepare precise and accurate factual and analytical reports. Ability to perceive relationships between developments in the employee's assigned field of responsibility and broader economic developments. Must be especially proficient in drafting well-organized, concisely-worded reports. Requires good word processing skills to meet tight deadlines on reports and telegrams. In-depth knowledge of Power point and other types of presentation material software required.
Basic Requirements:
1. American citizens who are eligible to receive a Top Secret security clearance.
