About this opportunity:
Nasdaq's Economic & Statistical Research (ESR) is looking for a student worker to join the team. The Nordic ESR team provides the Nordic & Baltic region analytical support for all Nasdaq business units. This is achieved by delivering Business Intelligence systems for self-service analysis, reporting of recurring statistics and, customised research services for ad-hoc questions, all to help improve trading, capital formation, market structure, and microstructure. The team consists of about a dozen employees that work across three different areas: Technology, Research, and Statistics.
What You Will Do:
You will support the team's transition to cloud infrastructure in our group. In our ongoing project, we migrate our data warehousing, reporting, and Business Intelligence solutions from traditional on-prem solutions to AWS. With your team, you will migrate reports and data sets and testing and quality assurance. You will also support our analysis and research to enable them to chip into the project as domain experts. This might be in gathering, processing, and analysing market data to support business decisions.
The team works with different BI and reporting solutions, primarily SAP Business Objects and QlikView. You will likely also come across data analytics programming languages such as SQL and Python in this role.
The team also provides analysis and support for several business areas, for example, Listing Capital Markets, Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives and Commodities. ESR analysts have frequent contact with all levels of management, customers, and business support functions, providing exposure to many different domains and excellent learning and advancement opportunities.
What We Expect:
1-3 years of study behind you, in engineering or similar field (technology, finance.)
Proficiency in some programming or scripting languages, e.g., SQL or Python
Have superb attention to detail and strong analytical skills, as you will be working with massive data sets
Curiosity about business intelligence, trading, and capital markets
The availability to work at least two days per week.
It Will Be Excellent If You Have:
Knowledge of capital markets and financial products
Some working experience with reporting, business intelligence, databases, etc.
