Are you interested in working in a dynamic and international environment? We are now looking for an Executive Editor and Head of ISDP’s Center for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs. The position will combine the two functions, each on a 50 percent basis.
The Institute for Security and Development Policy is a Stockholm-based non-profit and non-partisan research and policy organization. ISDP is dedicated to fostering a greater understanding of international affairs, focusing on the inter-relationship between security, conflict, and development. At the institute, there are currently around 18 staff members and approximately 10 guest researchers and interns.
Tasks
The Executive Editor is expected to work closely with researchers and staff to manage and produce the Institute's publications. The position entails independently overseeing all aspects of the publications process, including content and style – editing, fact-checking, proof-reading, as well as liaising closely with project managers and outreach coordinator on planned publications. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong capacity to develop the quality of the institute's publications and research work.
The tasks for the Head of the Centre for South Asian & Indo-Pacific Affairs are primarily fundraising, management of contracts within the Center, personnel responsibility, and follow up on the economic activities of each contract. The Head is moreover responsible for ensuring that the activities of the Center expands and is effectively communicated to relevant people
Required qualifications for the position
Native English speaker with excellent editing and writing skills.
Knowledge of at least one South Asian language, additional to English.
Previous editing experience in Academia, Think- thank, journalism, Policy, or similar environment.
Experience with copy-editing according to style guidelines.
Ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
A team player with the ability to coordinate effectively with co-workers and external researchers.
Strong intercultural skills and experience working together with colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a professional setting.
Ph.D. in a relevant field.
Relevant publications focusing on South Asia and the Pacific.
High impact factor of prior publications.
