Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is recruiting an Education Specialist with a focus on e-learning and remote learning, to join our highly motivated and experienced Education and Training team in their aim to strengthen pharmacovigilance systems globally. This is a full-time position based in the heart of Uppsala, Sweden, and may be filled before the close of applications, so please apply as soon as possible!

Your role
As an education specialist you will participate in the planning, design, development, implementation and evaluation of e-learning courses that UMC offers to the global community. The role involves technical and administrative support in the Learning Management System (LMS). You will also be expected to support ongoing or existing courses on our learning platforms. Additional responsibilities may arise, as we are currently in an exciting phase of digitalization and growth.

Key responsibilities:

Develop e-learning and blended learning solutions that are interactive and innovative, based on best practices in instructional design and adult learning theories

Collaborate independently with internal and external subject matter experts

In collaboration with colleagues ensure that the learning objectives are aligned with UMCs education strategy, overall goals and other learning paths

Provide technical support related to implementation of new courses and modules in the LMS

Administrate and provide LMS support and guidance to learners and instructors

Participate in the follow up and evaluation of new courses and specific modules

The successful candidate has a university/college Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science, health informatics/health science, or similar. Experience in developing e-learning in combination with technical and LMS skills is required. You have knowledge in adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies. Experience using e-learning authoring tools is required. It is an advantage if you have expertise in Articulate. Further, experience in the design and development of interactive digital multimedia learning materials (video, audio, animation etc.) is an advantage. You are fluent in written and spoken English, and other language skills would be beneficial.

You are a team player who enjoys working in close collaboration both within your team as well as with colleagues elsewhere in the organization. The role also requires a high degree of independent working. To be successful in the role you will need to be solution-oriented and cope well with changes in internal or external demands. Further, you are self-driven and result-oriented with excellent communication skills both written and orally with a clear focus on quality. Other desirable attributes include being responsible, pedagogical, and organized.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. We are the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, and manage the technical and operational aspects of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring since 1978.

As an independent, non-profit foundation, we support the World Health Organization, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders who share our vision of advancing medicines safety. Through research and development of new scientific methods, we explore the benefits and harms of medicines for patients, and offer products and services used by health authorities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide.
