EHS Specialist

Role Summary/Purpose

The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining the specific aspects of the EHS business strategy of Health and Safety programs.
This individual will also function in a team environment with other members of the plant level EHS staff, technicians and hourly personnel to ensure EHS compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

Assist certain assigned aspects (technical, regulatory/third party interface, reporting, permitting, compliance, financial, administrative, etc.) of GE Healthcare projects and permits in compliance with relevant regulatory programs and GE corporate policies.
Track site progress and needs; provide and update on projects for environmental compliance purposes.
Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans.
Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to site EHS managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements; participate in EHS compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites and service operations.
Keep management apprised of progress and significant developments on key projects.
Support compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites and coach new H&S personnel on successful closure of findings/recommendations.
Support efforts to analyse and communicate performance against expectations, provide feedback, establish and track required actions to improve performance.
Provide technical and compliance support to site H&S manager; assist in responding to significant incidents and government request/notice.
Drive improvements in EHS culture, awareness, and accountability.
Plan and deliver EHS training; coach EHS element owners to promote ownership and help them discharge their duties.
Conduct incident / accident investigations and develop corrective and preventative action plans.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline; or equivalent work experience, preferred within industrial hygiene.
EU work permit.

Desired Characteristics

3 years of H&S compliance and program experience across multiple sites for a large cooperation or consulting firm.
Experience in managing projects and/or EHS compliance.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team across different time zones.
Ability to communicate using English and Swedish in both oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation; interpersonal skills.
