In your work you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) business unit that is a part of Hitachi ABB Power Grids and is located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems.

Your responsibilities
Making sure the HVC stations are meeting customer requirements, international standards as well as pure physical aspects when it comes to electric- and magnetic fields. EMC parts as well as HSE aspects are to be considered. The goal is to have cost-effective solutions while fulfilling requirements.
Perform simulations and assessments during tenders and project execution.
Perform verification measurements at HVDC stations.
Drive technical developments as well as process related improvements.
You will join a team of engineers who all are working with the HVDC plant design from several different technical aspects and have plenty of opportunities to develop within different technical areas.

Your background
You probably hold a Master of Science degree in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems or similar.
Prior technical experience within Electric- or magnetic field is beneficial.
Good knowledge about electromagnetic fields and antennas.
Practical experience of electromagnetic field computations.
Your personality and interest are of high importance. You need to have a solid interest in technology and physics in order to be a good fit.
We look for a positive, problem solving individual with the attitude that everything is possible to do in a team.
You will work in a team where being able to take responsibility and willingness to learn are key features and your ability to formulate problems and solve them independent important.
