Core losses represent a large part of the total ownership cost of a power transformers and shunt reactor, and the ability to accurately predict those losses is crucial for the competitiveness of the product. However, due to the highly non-linear and anisotropic properties of core steel, accurate prediction of losses requires fine-tuned numerical methods. The aim of your work is to develop a core-loss simulation tool using COMSOL. This tool should be able to construct an arbitrary transformer/shunt reactor geometry based on user-defined dimensions, simulate the geometry, and analyze the results.

Your work will be to finalize the current ongoing work and extend the model for other transformer cores as well as to build on that simulation and adapt it to work for shunt reactor cores as well. Anisotropy and fringing fields play a larger role in shunt reactor cores than in transformers and may require changes to the existing simulation.

With use of computers and selected programs for such matters as preparing reports and conducting analyses. You will receive help and instructions from a supervisor or senior engineers to perform the less complex professional assignments requiring application of standard engineering principles and practices. For this position remote work is possible. Initially more office work is required, to learn processes and conduct training, and then you ideally work at the office once or twice a week.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER
As an electrical engineer you encompass the planning, designing, development, testing, installation and coordination of related activities involving electrical/electronic components and systems, including automation. You will also co-ordinate activities internally with other groups to effectively accomplish objectives requiring knowledge of associated functions and related engineering fields.

VI SÖKER DIG SOM
- 0-2 years of work experience within the relevant field, and a Bachelor degree or, another technical degree with several years of work experience within the relevant field
- You with great English language skills in both writing and speaking. Swedish is meritorious
- Great knowledge of electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or similar
- Knowledge of COMSOL software (or other FEM software for electromagnetics)
- Some programming skills (Matlab and/or Python beneficial)
