ESS is now looking for an Electrical Engineer for the NSS Technical Projects Group, in the NSS Division.
The NSS Project Division is responsible for construction and commissioning of the neutron instruments for the ESS. The scope of the division includes neutron detectors and data acquisition electronics, chopper systems, experiment control systems, electrical and service infrastructure, the neutron bunker (radiological shielding and infrastructure), and a test beamline.
Job description
You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team of Scientists, Engineers and Technicians responsible for the Neutron Scattering Systems. As an Electrical Engineer in the Technical Projects Group you will play an active role in the design and delivery of neutron instrument electrical solutions, as managed through the NSS Common Electrical Project (CEP). The engineer will be supporting ESS and specifically the neutron instrument projects with electrical design including support on procurements, installation and commissioning of relevant parts of the NSS electrical infrastructure. An essential aspect is the close collaboration with the various ESS stakeholders especially the Instrument design teams and the Instrument Technology Groups. The way the engineer relates and network with the instrument teams, meet their expectations and handle setbacks, will be of great importance to reaching the goals of the NSS Project. The electrical engineer will be involved in:
• Establishing instrument electrical requirements together with instrument design teams in accordance with for example existing guidelines for design and implementation of electrical installations, earthing, bonding and zone division of systems within ESS neutron instruments.
• NSS electrical infrastructure design work using Aveva E3d
• NSS electrical single line diagrams using EPLAN
• NSS Power circuit design, cable design and circuit breaker selectivity
• NSS earthing/bonding design and implementation
• Contribute to the development and approval of documentation for the NSS electrical infrastructure
• Supporting and executing relevant reviews of electrical designs performed internally and/or by external collaborators like In-kind Partners to ESS,
• Manage Procurement Identify suppliers and comparison of price alternatives,
• Conduct, witness and report on Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests etc. for NSS electrical deliverables,
• Assist with planning and preparation, as well as provide oversight, of installation activities as per ESS WoW,
• Provide support to Contractors, Engineers and Technicians during fabrication, installation, test and operations.
• Support with spatial integration related tasks.
• Support design lead and project management with time and cost estimates.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position the following qualifications and skillsets are required:
• Engineering degree (Masters degree considered beneficial) in relevant electrical engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience from electrical infrastructure design within large complexprojects
• Experience in using ePLAN to produce single line electrical diagrams and drawings.
• Experience using AVEVA E3D software to develop cable containment system designs within plant design.
• Experience of producing 2d drawings, isometric drawings and comprehensive bills of materials from AVEVA E3D
• Experience from design of cable containment systems, power distribution systems and grounding systems
• Experience in technical writing of documents such as those detailing Requirements, Design and installation instructions
• Excellent oral and written English skills
The following experience and skillsets will be an advantage:
• Previous experience of neutron spallation facilities or large science projects
• CATIA experience
• Experience in project planning through Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
• Management of project work packages including definition of tasks and interfaces,
• Experience of presenting detailed designs at preliminary and critical design reviews and installation readiness reviews
• Experience in supervising installation and commissioning work incl. test, certification & handover,
To be successful in this position, you need to have good planning, engineering and networking skills. You must understand the mechanisms of highly parallelised project work as well as the communication with a multitude of versatile stakeholders. It is vital that you have a strong personal drive and a high level of self motivation.
Duration & Location
The position is a fixed term position of 3 years. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
