You will be part of ABB IEC LV Motors in Västerås. IEC LV Motors, which is part of the business unit Motors & Generators, develops, produces and sells low voltage AC Motors in aluminum and cast iron within the shaft height range 90-280 mm and power range up to 750 kW. The unit employs around 300 people.

As Electrical Machines Specialist in the R&D Group at IEC LV Motors you will land in those surroundings. Here, you get to design electrical machines, determine performance as well as plan and perform experiments on motor drive systems. You will also analyze test results and develop working methods and concepts alike. Another important responsibility will be to find trends and new possibilities to develop our motors and drive systems. You will monitor your area of expertise by, among other things, networking within ABB, the academical world and with other external contacts. You will also get to work with practical laboratory experiments, both execute them and guide and instruct others. Controlling, following up and analyzing the results will also be your responsibility. As an expert, you will be our internal advisor concerning complex issues within electrical machines design and drive systems. It is important to always make sure that our development efforts lead to concrete improvements, which in turn contribute to increased viability and new business. Requirements:
You hold a technical doctorate within Electrical Engineering, focusing on electrical machines and drive systems. Preferably you combine this with some working experience. You can also be a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with no less than five years? experience, preferably from development work. A given prerequisite is that you have great insight into and knowledge about electrical machines. Equally evident is that you are skilled and experienced in scientific methods. Further, you have experience from experimental work on motors controlled by variable speed drives. Fluency in both Swedish and English is a must, as it is a requirement that you are used to writing articles for journals and conferences, as well as used to presenting complex information to a varied audience. It is qualifying if you have previous experience from development work, project management or programming of variable speed drives. A further plus is if you are used to working in softwares such as Maxwell, Flux2D/3D, COMSOL Multiphysics or Matlab. On a personal level, you are driven and make sure that things are finished, even if you do not always put the finishing touch on them yourself. You have a professional approach towards problems and understand the business, which puts its mark on your daily work. Adding to this, you have the ability and the will to build internal as well as external networks. You are a team player who can shoulder a leading position naturally.
