As a consequence of our Electromobility introduction we needed to safeguard how we work with traction voltage globally within Volvo Penta and coordinated with the Volvo Group. The department of Product Safety Compliance (PSC) is looking for a new Electrical Safety Manager as replacement of the current one who is moving on to new challenges. This role will focus on the areas of Electrical Safety and to contribute to fulfil our vision of zero accidents.


About us
The Safety Compliance department responsibilities include Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Change Management within product safety. We set product safety requirements and project target values as well as ensuring product/project compliance with applicable legislation over time.
The transformation journey means introducing electromobility, automation and connectivity into our marine and industrial applications. These new technologies bring new safety risks and new regulatory environments. To manage this will be vital for our future success over the next coming years.
The PSC responsibility for type approval and product certification of marine and industrial products is essential to safeguard our core value of Safety and to secure compliance. The Electrical Safety Manager will report to the Director Safety Compliance, who is the owner of the core value Safety at Volvo Penta.


The PSC department is part of the function Quality, Environment and Product Compliance. PSC currently consists of 15 highly engaged and qualified persons who look forward to meeting their new colleague.

In this vital position you will work globally within Volvo Penta with all levels of management from executive level to expert level. Your role is to lead our implementation and follow-up of a safe way of working with the traction voltage needed in the electromobility area. Since you will work with all levels within the company, good communication skills are important. The job requires travelling in periods.


Core responsibilities
Within areas of Electrical Safety:
Lead implementation and follow-up of Volvo Penta’s way of working within Electrical Safety
Coordinate with corresponding roles within the Volvo Group
Report to the executive steering committee
Support Product Development, Production and Global Parts & Services to develop electrically safe solutions.
Secure needed training



Desirable experience and qualifications
Master of Science degree or similar level of education
Experience within the field of Product Safety
Experience in the field of New Technologies, e.g. electromobility, automation and connectivity
A structured and accurate way of working
Fluency in English and Swedish
Good communication skills, both in terms of reports, presentations and in discussions
