Our team currently consists of 13 engineers with different professional backgrounds, interests and history but with one common mindset: To develop our products and ourselves! With the sea as our closest neighbor, where a lunch walk along the seaside in Arendal is an energy boosting and relaxing activity, we gather every day to secure the quality and competitiveness of our products in a fast-evolving business.
In our group, we focus on leading the EMC, ensuring vehicle and electrical component compliance with legal and internal Volvo demands. We also focus on the development of electrical components and control units, which are used, in all our vehicles. Having a global responsibility, the solutions developed within the team can be found in Volvo buses all over the world helping millions of people every day to reach their destination. In our global responsibility, we cooperate with our sites in India, Poland, Mexico and Brazil, as well as with our Volvo-owned brands Prevost and Nova in North America. What can we offer?
You will contribute to our world-class development of present and future transport solutions. You will be involved in EMC requirements towards suppliers and internal stakeholders in order to secure the vehicles’ compliance. Prior to this phase, you will be responsible of leading and concluding detailed investigations, provide requirements and guidelines and support the testing performed within the area.
Main area of responsibility:
You will be a part of the Electrical & Electronics Component Chassis Group within the Electrical & Software Architecture Department. Responsible for EMC within product development. In addition, you will be taking on the role as component owner or driver of specific investigations for the team’s components, depending on your background and the nature of the project portfolio.
You will have an important role in taking the lead when it comes to EMC issues throughout the entire product value chain, from design to production, aftermarket and certification and the main responsibilities are:
Provide EMC design requirements for components developed by Volvo Buses
Provide EMC design requirements/guidelines on a complete vehicle level
Act as Volvo Buses’ spokesperson towards Volvo Group Trucks Technology/external partners regarding EMC
Take lead in discussions with supplier/Homologation/public authorities when deviations from GTT EMC standards exists and if impacted on a vehicle level
Provide support to all Volvo Buses sites
Responsible of creating an overview of the status of electrical components/nodes used on Volvo Buses when it comes to EMC certification/verification. Coordinating with different stakeholders
Prepare, conduct and document EMC verification and EMC certification tests on the complete vehicle

B.Sc. or higher education in Electrics or Electronics Engineering is highly valuable as well as previous experience from EMC and HW-development in the automotive industry.
Since you have good engineering judgment and priorities, you have the ability and interest to technically support, lead and challenge colleagues in their work and their mindset. You like to share your passion for technical solutions and you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a person you are positive, you display driving force and have a structured way of working.
