JOB DESCRIPTION:
Trimble Danderyd R&D develops high-end optical measurement instruments, total stations and scanning total stations. They have two software engineering teams - application and platform that are responsible for the instrument firmware, production and service applications. They are now in the phase of preparing for their next generation platform.
Their advanced embedded systems include a variety of different sensor technologies such as servos, cameras, distance-meter, angle-meter, tracking modules as well as communication stacks on our Linux platform.
The overall eco system software also includes field and office software that are developed in close cooperation with other Trimble sites located in New Zealand, Europe and the US. Continuously they strive to improve their way of working by establishing best practices, development standards and guidelines so that coding, building, testing and releasing quality software can happen rapidly, frequently and reliably.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
We are looking for a driven embedded software developer for their platform team. As a software developer you will have a broad field of work that includes pre-studies, analysis, design, implementation and verification of software for our embedded systems. You will work in cross functional teams and collaborate with colleagues within different areas of expertise – hardware, mechanics, optics, software and specialists. To succeed in this role, you need to collaborate closely with your colleagues and have genuine interest in our embedded systems.
Main responsibilities
Develop code for their embedded systems.
Together with developers improve best practices for software development, architecture and design.
Organizing your work within an agile team.
You have strong work ethics and a passion for encouraging and driving creativity and
innovation. You strive to continuously improve and further develop yourself, the team and the organization as a whole.
Required Skills
BSc MSc in Computer Science, electronics, mechatronics or physics or similar.
Development of embedded systems 2-5 years. If you are newly graduate/Junior we would like to se own projects and experience in programing.
Good problem-solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills
Good development skills in C/C++ and Python for Linux and Windows based systems.
General and genuine interest in technology
Fluent in English and preferable in Swedish. If you don't know Swedish, a willing to learn is a must.
Plus if you have (Not required)
Experience with Open source projects
Experience building Linux, WEC, OSE, Android platforms
Experience with hardware
Networking protocols and communications stacks
Experience of building system architectures. Understanding of system and application
performance limits and characteristics.
Experience of script programming such as Python and build tools example cmake
Experience with build and release management and tools such as Teamcity, Bamboo,
Jenkins
DevOps, Software or Build and Release Engineering experience
