Do you want to work at a fast-moving clean-tech startup with a lot of freedom (and responsibility)? At Avsalt, we move ions from water streams to solve the global issue of having safe and local access to clean water.
We are looking for an embedded software engineer with experience in control system programming on microprocessor devices. Your task is to modify and continuously develop the code base that controls the energy distribution on the electrodes in the ion moving unit, this is done in an MCU. With the task comes the surrounding code for gathering sensor data, communicating with the outside world and also the architecture of controlling the controllers, this is done on a Raspberry Pi or similar.
We believe you have a M.Sc. degree in engineering physics, computer science, electrical engineering or similar. As a person, you like programming and is a self-going person that likes to take responsibility on your own tasks as well as showing an interest of seeing the big system picture. Maybe you have done some hobby projects that shows your passion for programing and developing electronics?
Here is a list of what we perceive as must have for this employment:
M.Sc. in engineering physics, computer science, electrical engineering or similar.
Strong programming skills in micro controllers, C/C++.
Intermediate Git experience.
Dedicated and self-going individual, there is no SW team at Avsalt, the SW team is you.
+5 years of working experience.
And here is a list of some nice to have:
What most people refer to as “IoT” and “cloud”, meaning you could set up a structure for sending data from a MCU/RPi to some other computer and store the data appropriately for trend analysis and presentation.
What most people refer to as “Linux”, meaning you could write a python script that with some systemctl-controlled interval reads a GPIO on a RPi HAT and trigger some other program to restart with modified input parameters.
Finally, here is what you can expect from Avsalt as a workplace:
Competitive salary.
Freedom to set up your own development environment, both HW and SW.
Flexible working hours with the possibility to spend some of them from home, although we expect you to join the rest of the team at our facilities in Malmö most of the time.
What you won’t get:
Monthly full-day department meetings with inspirational talks from some person at legal or HR – We only have daily standups.
Yearly goal setting and follow up workshops – We deliver every day.
Salary comparisons with “the average” at the department – We pay you according to your experience and competence level.
Three-day cycles of code review in some web based tool chosen by a high level IT person because it had nice colors and a competitive price point for 5000+ employees – We expect you do write and test your code by yourself, you know how to write good code.
