Volvo Group Trucks Technology – Electromobility is the global, strategic center for electric vehicle development within the Volvo Group. By 2040 the entire sales of Volvo Group vehicle shall be fossil free and already by 2030 the annual sale of Electric Trucks will be 100 000 vehicles. Electromobility is a key area for the Volvo Group in order to be in the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.
Within Power Conversion we provide world class solutions for AC and DC charging, distribute current to a powerful propulsion system as well as auxiliary loads and customer equipment. By doing so, we deliver end customer value for all Volvo business units such as trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine applications!
From 2019 we are located in Volvo’s new center for new technologies; CampX. Here the Battery Electrical Vehicle stream is co-located and in 2021 the CampX will grow to double size and include also Fuel cells joint venture with Daimler as well as the Autonomous drive development – an inspiring environment!
Responsibilities
You will work as a system designer with focus on electric magnetic compatibility for components connected to the 800 V DC link. With good knowledge of regulations (UN R10), international standards (CISPR, IEC and ISO) and actual component performance you will develop and maintain Volvo internal standards. The tasks will stretch from requirement writing, discussions and reviews of supplier test results to involvement in in-house testing. You are to secure cross-functional and business anchoring as well as support other engineer within the area when needed.
Being part of a system team your electrical engineering skills will also contribute to the overall platform requirement work and joint decisions on system and component designs.
Typical tasks
Develop and maintain Volvo requirements and standards
Review supplier component designs, testing methods and results
Develop and participate in in-house EMC testing
Review and develop system designs: installation of components
Cooperate with other experts for alignment, processes and education
Review and comment drafts of new regulations and international standards
Expected experience and competence
M.Sc in Electrical Engineering.
6 - 8 years of experience from high voltage integrated power system design & development.
Hands-on experience of planning and performing EMC testing.
Hands-on experience of performing tests with live High Voltage components.
Documented experience from working in an Agile development environment.
Skilled in EMC design and testing: conductive and radiated, emissions vs. immunity, requirements vs. test limitations .
