This is us
System Design is a team of 20+ engineers with a mission to develop and maintain system solutions and functions within the domain of Vehicle Connectivity. We drive the systems engineering work along with pre-studies and early investigations as well as define system-level strategies and framework.

This is what you will do
You would be our End-User Function Owner for Remote Software Download (RSWDL). As such, you will have the global responsibility for your functions commonality and reusability between products, brands and markets. You will be responsible for the long-term evolution of the function and secure that the End-User Function Requirements Specification is up-to-date. You will work with stakeholders such as Product Planning, Product Owners, Brand representatives and other Engineering departments to understand their expectations and align with the Platform strategy.
In this position, you will also work part of your time as a System Leader. You will be a technical leader for pre-studies, which targets having well analyzed solutions that define how the project can implement the product change. For smaller pre-studies, you will do the analysis yourself, and for large pre-studies, you will lead a team that together performs the necessary investigations.
You will be responsible for reviewing input requirements and identifying possible solutions, analyze and anchor them until a recommendation can be made, taking project scope, current platform and technical limitations into consideration. You will also work close to agile software development teams to support implementation of proposed solutions.

We believe that you are someone who takes initiative and has a strong drive for results. In this role, you will be both a leader and a pedagogue. It is important that you are self-motivated and good at prioritizing and planning your own, and when needed, your team’s work. You need to be able to analyze and solve complex problems, creating pedagogical overviews, highlighting important details and have the ability to anchor them with different stakeholders that not necessarily have the same technical knowledge as you. To do this successfully, you need to have deep technical knowledge combined with very good networking- and communication skills.
We believe that you have extensive experience from embedded systems engineering, electric architecture and diagnostic services as well experience from Telematics and Connected Vehicles.
Qualifications
B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in electronics/computer engineering or equivalent education
Minimum five years of work experience within product development and systems engineering
Knowledge of agile software development methodologies
Very good understanding of embedded software and hardware development.
Knowledge in several of the following: Network protocols and applications including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, RADIUS
Fluent communication in English
It is meriting if you have: Volvo AB experience and knowledge of one or several backend systems such as VDA, TISP, RAMS and NAMS.
