About this opportunity

We are looking for a new member to join the Energy Performance team in Lund!

We are creating exciting end-to-end RAN solutions at Ericsson, but we also think there are great opportunities to improve them using clever engineering and smart ideas. In our group, we are strengthening our focus to make our products more energy efficient – through both system design, prototyping and system verification. We are especially interested in how Baseband and Radio products can operate as energy efficient as possible in Radio Access Networks. Focus is on 4G and 5G networks with 6G approaching rapidly as well.

New innovative improvement ideas always need to match our customer needs, so analyzing our customer networks data from deployed products and features is a necessity for successful innovation.

This is your chance to significantly influence reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in mobile networks around the world, from within a world leader in communications technology as part of your daily working assignment!

What you will do

We work in a uniquely versatile group, with a very broad range of competences ranging from System Verification, SW development, HW development, good knowledge of 3GPP specifications and good knowledge of UE behavior. Our main asset as a team is the combined understanding of how HW, SW, system design and clever features need to interact in the right way across all parts of a radio base station to minimize power consumption in a Radio Access Network.

In our team, we perform both hands-on measurements (for example with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers and heat cameras) as well as System Verification with trace and KPI analysis to fully map out the way our products behave in our end to end high-touch lab in Lund. We are utilizing the Energy Performance lab for manual exploratory, innovative purposes as well as automized System Verification.

Now we want to expand our team with someone with a clear interest to take part in our increased focus in analysis of our customer networks data as well as our strengthened ambition for a fully automized System Verification setup.

Join our Team
You will bring

A background from and an interest in programming and data/problem analysis. Preferably experience from development of Radio Access Networks. Most importantly an open mind, with an eager to develop and cooperate within a self-organizing team, but also building your personal networks outside the team as the Energy Performance requires all parts of the system to come together for effective solutions.

We are therefore looking for candidates meeting the following requirements:
· A Master of Science in Engineering
· Strong experience from programming
· Good analytical skills, to be able to evaluate feature gain from different ideas
· Communicates well in English, both in writing and verbally
· A strong interest in reducing the energy consumption of Ericsson products and being a part of our fight to reduce CO2 emissions

A strong candidate will also cover several of these wishes:
· Being curious and open to exploring new ideas
· Want to help others understand and learn
· Has a good understanding of Radio Access Networks and is willing to learn more
