We have an exciting opportunity to join our Data Sciences & Quantitative Biology department as a Senior Statistician based at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. The team is made up of passionate statisticians, bioinformaticians, machine learning specialists and image analysts. We are part of the Discovery Sciences function that applies deep technical expertise in specialist technologies to support the delivery of targets and molecules to the early AstraZeneca pipeline. We work collaboratively towards a common goal, pushing the boundaries of science, by applying our quantitative skills to complex biological problems to deliver new medicines to patients.

What you will do:
You will play an important role in our greater organisation by applying your statistical knowledge to drug discovery projects in a variety of collaborative project teams.
As a Senior Statistician you will work with a problem-solving attitude and a perceptive approach to:
* Identify and deliver solutions to address key biological questions using quantitative approaches
* Build and internalize appropriate algorithms and techniques to answer biological questions
* Develop and implement statistical learning models
* Contribute to and lead projects
* Engage with external collaborators via publications and presentations
Essential in the role:
We believe that your focus is set on solving challenging biological problems through partnerships. You are a specialist in your field, and you know that the best results are achieved by utilizing the strengths of every individual.
You should also:
* Be an agile communicator that can explain complex statistical methods to scientists with different levels of statistical knowledge.
* Experience in data analysis and knowledge of some of the following areas: experimental design, linear/nonlinear models, Bayesian methods, statistical learning/AI and modelling.
* Programming experience with tools such as R, Shiny, Julia, Stan or similar.
* PhD or equivalent in statistics, mathematics, data science or similar.
