Engineer
IKEA Purchase Operations Area North Europe is looking for engineering candidates for our talent pool. Presumable starting date summer 2015, Älmhult office
IKEA offers well-designed, functional home furnishings at prices so low that as many people as possible can afford them. The role of the supply process is to buy, produce and distribute the IKEA range at the lowest total cost, making high quality available to the customer under good social and environmental conditions. The Purchase Operations Area North Europe has offices in Sweden, Germany and Lithuania.
Engineers have a crucial role within Purchasing, since they take the lead for technical and quality agenda together with our IKEA suppliers. They develop IKEA suppliers according to the IKEA Supplier Operating Standard and secure process control for key processes in the production for several suppliers. Responsibility for production process improvement and new development projects is also part of the role. Passion about good products, production opportunities and innovations is an important element of an Engineering assignment.
To succeed as an Engineer within Purchasing, a minimum of 3 years experience within Production and/or Quality is needed. Just like very good knowledge of product requirements, standards, test methods and materials properties and construction. Experience with auditing and assessment techniques is necessary, just like the ability to analyse suppliers working methods and performance. Experience with quality tools such as Six Sigma and the ability to work with data are important. And since Purchasing is working in a global context, our engineers are fluent in English. Other important skills are being analytical and having the ambition to solve difficult situations, having new ideas to improve things and being innovative.
Travelling is part of the assignment since our Engineers spend a lot of time with our suppliers
