Job Summary

The department of Solid and Thermal Analysis is looking for a person with a keen interest for the aerospace business, that is jet/rocket engines and gas turbine technology. In this case, especially for the JAS 39 Gripen power plant, RM12 engine, and future air combat systems. We need to strengthen our CAE team with talented and dedicated people in the field of Thermodynamics with a solid background in Computer Fluid Dynamics. If you are a communicative person, loves problem solving, have the ability to understand customer needs and the will to transfer them into solutions, you are the person we are looking for.
Job Responsibilities
As a CAE engineer, you will work in cross-discipline teams. You will bring the knowledge and the responsibility of thermodynamics to the team. Your main focus will be on modelling and analyses of heat transfer and/or secondary air flow systems using both commercial and in-house developed tools. As a CAE engineer at GKN, you will be working with anything from concept analyses for the future aerospace engines to field issues of engines in today’s aircrafts. In addition, we are continuously developing our methods, technologies and tools, in which you may have a vital contribution. Key responsibilities:
Perform Aero/ Thermal design and analysis of engine structure components
Support the design team to optimize the product to defined program targets
Development of thermal loads to be used as input to structural analysis
Evaluate engine test data to validate thermal FE-model analyses
Method development including CFD validation
Modelling and analysis of internal secondary flow systems, such as cavities, bleed air systems

Job Qualifications
Engineering diploma BSc, MSc or similar from aerospace/mechanical engineering, engineering physics or other relevant engineering degree
Relevant experience from industry and/or academy is advantageous
CFD experience, such as heat transfer predictions and validation
Experience in performing FE analysis
Good knowledge of commercial tools such as Ansys, SimCenter3D
Experienced in programming and scripting (Python, Matlab)
Good abilities to cooperate with colleagues both within the team and across other functions
Good social skills, the ability to create effective networks and can take on a technical responsibility role
Proficient in English, both written and spoken. Swedish is an advantage
